Development of low-budget rover with 6 independent wheels
This robot with six separately driven wheels can be made by researchers or hobbyists for under 500 euros. This Instructables site explains step-by-step how to do this. Most parts can be printed or bought cheaply in China.
The heart of the robot is a Raspberry Pi with ROS2. The control software consists of several ros packages that are available open source in this repository.
Below you can see real-time images from a virtual reality application. I presented this at the Maker Fair Eindhoven in September 2020. Visitors could complete a course in VR and had to maneuver the spinrobot over rocks with a joystick to reach the finish line.
